Canada 1999

Warning: there are a LOT of pictures.

This is the story of a ski trip that took place in March 1999, in BC, Canada.
It started in Whistler, where for two weeks an international group of people from the newsgroup Rec.Skiing.Alpine associated, skiied, drank and fought (the four basic elements of society?) for two weeks. Then everyone scattered, while I (ant) spent the next two weeks road-tripping to some other BC resorts, before returning to the Australian summer.

Some words of thanks to Remington:

Remington, ski liquidator extraordinaire and friend of destitute skiiers, sent me this pair of Blizzard race slaloms for the trip. Blizzard, in turn, had actually dug them out of their race room, where they had been left over from the Austrian women's team's last assault on the World Cup. They were signed by Renate Gotschal, the Downhill world champion.

The Tyrolia bindings are also rather fancy, and caused some comment back in Australia ("what are THEY?").
Remington is great for ski gear at sane prices.

Ski Tester is a new idea from Remington, where ordinary skiiers (and not just demi-god skiiers) can actually be part of a ski company's ski test programme, and in so doing get top line skis for bottom-shelf prices. The programme is open to skiiers in all countries and is proving very popular.
